What Helps make Our Candles Different

from web site

Let's look at what our candles are. Our candles are made ethically in small quantities using sustainable components and packaging. Our candles are vegan, cruelty-free and are made without the use of parabens, phthalates and petroleum or carcinogenic components. We also make use of 100% soy candle that is harvested from sustainable crops within the USA. But what exactly is soy and why is it so important?

Soy wax is made from soybeans (shocking isn't it?). They do this by taking clean, cracked, dehulled soybeans, and then rolling them into flake. After that, the oil can be taken out and the hydrogen is then produced. As a bonus, the leftover flakes can be used as animal feed! This process alters the melting temperature making it stable at room temperature and ideal for candles. If being natural, renewable, biodegradable, and vegan wasn't enough, then soy wax typically has the longest burn time and is free of indoor air pollution.

What about other waxes? In reality, there are three different waxes which are frequently used in candles, these include paraffin wax, beeswax, and coconut wax. Let's discuss these three. Paraffin wax has been, arguably the most popular wax for candles, particularly scent-laden candles because it is very fragrant and has a long throw. Why is it that increasing number of businesses turning to alternate waxes? It's because it's not renewable! Paraffin wax is made from coal, petroleum, or oil and is a carcinogen! We care about the environment as well as our customers' health, in our company Brand & Iron, so green, sustainable and ethically-sourced ingredients are required.

Beeswax is is a well-known naturally sourced wax that works extremely well with candles in general. However, beeswax has an intense natural scent which doesn't mix well in conjunction with scents. However, the most important thing vancouver candle company is that beeswax is created by bees (obviously) and is a candle manufacturer that is vegan, this makes it impossible to make.

Finally, there the final ingredient is the coconut oil. Apart from the high cost, it's also difficult to find truly authentic coconut oil. This is primarily because of the softness of coconut wax. Due to its very low melting temperature, many coconut waxes blend, including one of the waxes mentioned above. While this in itself is not a problem, because of its lack of transparency of manufacturers and the complicated language they employ, it's almost impossible to determine what the wax is mixed with, or even whether they're mixed in the first instance. We'd like to ensure an organic sustainable, vegan, renewable and ethical candle, so we choose to make use of soy wax.

We don't stop there. We use soy wax to create a safe and renewable candle. We also use a lead-free and zinc-free cotton wick, that is a non-toxic wick and easy to use, and requires less care than a wooden wick. What can we do to differentiate our candles? Our commitment to our beliefs extends all the way to the packaging. This is why all of our packaging peanuts can be biodegradable; in fact, all of our packaging is recyclable. We also love encouraging the customers we serve to recycle or reuse old candle vessels. We'll discuss some of our favorite ways to do that next month, so be sure to sign up for our newsletter via email to keep up-to-date.
