About Bhutan Airlines

Tashi Air is now known by the name Bhutan Airlines. Bhutan Airlines was originally launched in 2011 as Tashi Air in 2011. It operated for six months, before it shut down. In October of 2013, the company, previously called Tashi Air, resumed operations and was renamed Bhutan Airlines.

The Tashi Group owns Tashi Air and Bhutan Airlines. The company was established in 1959 by Dasho Urji.

Bhutan Airlines operates its own schedule of flights leaving from Thimphu in Bhutan. They also offer regular flights to India, Thailand, and Nepal.

Paro Airport

Paro Airport is one among four airports in Bhutan and is the only one among them that can offer international flights. Because of its spectacular setting in Paro Chhu Valley and the surrounding mountains, international flights cannot be taken off- or landed from the airport.

In 1968, the airport was still small. The airport was extended and upgraded in the year 1990. In 1999, a terminal building was built.

Bhutan Airlines does not yet offer online check-in.

Check-in at the airport

Bhutan Airlines passengers must check in at the Airport prior to their departure. The airline recommends that passengers arrive at the airport no later than two hours prior to departure.

Check-in hours are open for 3 hours prior to departure. The desks will be closed 45 minutes prior to departure.

 

Bhutan Airlines Policies

a.Baggage Policy and Fees

 

Carry-on Baggage

Bhutan Airlines requires that carry-on baggage do not exceed 55 x 40 x 20 cm, or weigh more than 7 kg.

It is possible to carry personal items in your bag that you carry on the plane, such as a briefcase or laptop case.

Checked Baggage

Bhutan Airlines will allow checked baggage based on the route chosen and the class of ticket purchased.

The majority of flights Business Class can carry 40 kg. Economy and Premium Economy can only carry 30 kg.

Passengers who fly from Gaya - Paro are exempted from this restriction. This flight requires that bags checked in do not exceed 30 kg in Business Class as well as under 20 kg in Premium and Economy Class.

Baggage overage

Bhutan Airlines will charge baggage that exceeds the weight limit or the dimensions.

 

b.Pet Policy

 

  • Pets that are properly crated, like dogs, pets or even birds of the household, are allowed to travel if they have valid travel permits as well as proof of their health.

  • As baggage, animals with the container it's in, as well as food items, will not be permitted to travel. The animal will be considered to be excess baggage and passengers are required to pay the applicable fees.

  • Guide dogs that accompany passengers who are visually impaired or blind are bound by the Carrier's Rules.

  • The condition for acceptance of transporting animals is that the pet's owner assumes complete responsibility for the animal. The transportation company is not responsible for any injury, loss or delay, illness or death that may happen to the animal or if it is refused access to or travel across any state or country.

 

c.Cancellation and Refund Policy

 

Most flights tickets are non-refundable once they have been purchased. Heavenly Bhutan provides the option to cancel your Bhutan flight tickets within a brief period. HBT is dedicated to making customers feel at ease and helping them in any way.

Druk Air Ticket Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations that are made within 35 days from the departure date are qualified for a 90% refund
Cancellations that are made between 15 and 35 days before the date of travel can be reimbursed up to 75%..
50% Refund is available for tickets that are cancelled between 08-14 days before the departure date.
Tickets that are cancelled less than 8 days before the date of the event are not refundable.
Tickets that have been moved or been penalized are not refunded.
