ChatGPT for WordPress

You're reading important news articles now.

You've discovered a cure for cancer, you've bought a jet plane, or you've found a way to put a man on the moon—all big stories that made the headlines.

But did you know that you can also follow the news as it happens? You can keep up with all the latest news stories and have an engaging conversation with people who share the same interests as you do!

No, I'm not talking about the typical boring headlines found on your traditional news sites. I'm talking about something special. I'm talking about being there when some historical event happens, having a meaningful exchange with someone, or participating in some kind of on-going community conversation that is fun, rewarding, and important.

This is possible with a product I'm very excited to introduce you to. It's called ChatGPT for WordPress . With ChatGPT, anyone can create a news site or blog that behaves like a traditional news site or blog—except that it also facilitates an engaging conversation with potential customers, fans, and other interested parties.

The Basic Concept

Now, normally, I'm not one to blow my own trumpet, but I think you'll agree that I've been fortunate enough to work with some fantastic people who share my interest in making the world a better place. So let me tell you about my collaborator and friend, David Hyatt. He's the founder of a company called Skyship Inc. which makes all kinds of vacation packages that take you anywhere in the world you want to go.

While on a corporate retreat with David, we discussed how difficult it was to find a way to monetize a travel blog that he writes for. (Incidentally, if you're looking for an engaging, inspiring, and educational read, you should check out his blog, Travelling to Italy.)

We discussed various options including affiliate marketing, selling and displaying ads, and Patreon. (Yes, Patreon is a way to support creators who make valuable content that you enjoy, and it's been around for a while. So if you use Patreon, you're actually supporting the development of valuable content that will help you in the long term.)

In the end, David decided to try a new approach. He wondered if there was a way to pull people into the conversation by offering them more than just travel tips and recommendations. So he came up with the idea of a “travel chatbot”. The idea was to have a computer conversationalist which would simulate a human interaction through chat.

Why Does It Work?

I think you'll agree that humans have a fundamental need to connect with one another and to feel that we're not alone in this world. In a world where isolation is increasingly becoming a thing of the past, humans still crave connection. Travel chatbots are designed to simulate a familiar human interaction through chat—which I assume is why they're generally considered to be one of the best ways to engage with potential customers. (And let's face facts; at this point in time, no one really enjoys going through a dull flight anymore.)

People love to research travel destinations and planning their trip. Normally, this involves a lot of Googling, checking online reviews, and maybe even some trial and error to find the best match for what they're looking for. However, not all of this is beneficial. When you have so much information at your fingertips, you may become overwhelmed and never finish researching the topic you came for in the first place!

With a travel chatbot, this is all taken care of for you. All you have to do is populate it with the destinations you want to go to and fill out the chatbot with the kind of questions you'd ask a friendly local barista at a café you've recently stumbled upon in Italy (or any other foreign country for that matter!).

Once this is done, you can simply sit back and relax while your robotic assistant does the talking for you! (Well, almost all of it. It still needs a little bit of supervision from time to time.)

How Do I Get Started?

So how do you get started with a travel chatbot for WordPress? It's actually quite straightforward. All you need to do is download the ChatGPT plugin, plug it into your WordPress site(this is completely free and it's what you'll use to connect to your bot), and follow the on-screen instructions.

Once this is done, you'll see the chatbot icon in the WordPress editor—just beneath and to the right of the text area. (You can enable this icon from the Plugins tab of WordPress' Settings page.)

Clicking on this icon will take you to the plugin's settings page where you can configure various aspects of the bot's operation. (You can also do this from within the WordPress admin area if you prefer—but I find the settings page is easier to use.)

What Platform Do I Need?

Technically, any platform will do. You just need to have a WordPress account to connect to the bot. (You can use this to access other types of content too, such as web pages, e-books, and so on —just be sure to connect to the right account.)

However, I recommend using a hosted platform like Google's Platform or WordPress' own child-blog platform, as these allow you to build a professional-looking site with minimal effort. (And minimal risk of hacking!)

How Many Instances Can I Have?

As with most things in life, there's no one-size-fits-all approach to answering this question. It really depends on how much you want to do and how much you can afford. (If you want to set up multiple bots to handle increased traffic during certain times of the year, for example, you'll want to look into buying additional servers to handle the load.)

For the purposes of this example, I'll use the free version of WordPress which comes with the limited resources offered by Google's hosting. (You can find similar resources, such as Amazon's AWS, at much cheaper rates if you want to run your own server. But for the sake of simplicity, let's stay with what you've got now.)

With two web servers running WordPress 4.4, I was able to establish contact with my bot on both mobile devices and via Wi-Fi connections. (Keep in mind that you'll have to tell your mobile phone's operating system to use the same account for both connections, or else you'll have trouble keeping track of what's going on.)

How Much Does This Cost?

This really depends on how much you want to spend. (And how much you're willing to pay.) If you want a simple and sleek design for your site, you can opt for a free version of WordPress which comes with one domain and the standard design from the WordPress dashboard. (This will not block search engines from picking up on your content.)

To get the most from your ChatGPT travel bot, you'll want to consider paying for a premium version of WordPress that comes with additional domains, custom designs, and fully integrated security measures.

For an idea of what these costs may look like, let's say you want to create a basic website for a music event you're particularly passionate about. (This could be anything from a music festival or convention to a Broadway show or a sporting event.)

You'll want to pay for a premium version of WordPress which has all the necessary features needed to make a quality website for a music event. This could include things like booking rooms at hotels that have special deals for fans, downloading artist-specific apps to your smartphones so you can have access to venue maps and directions, and connecting with musicians, agents and promoters to get the most out of the experience. (It also means you can run multiple sites from one account—just make sure you monitor your servers' resources to avoid any potential glitches.)

To give you a rough idea of what these costs may look like, let's use the example site for London's Pride. This is an annual event that takes place every June in London. Tens of thousands of people take to the streets in the largest Pride march in the world. (If you're interested in this topic, you may want to check out the London Trans Pride blog for more information!)

This year's Pride was particularly memorable because of the pandemic and the lack of large-scale events that took place due to the government's lockdown orders. (Some street parties were held behind closed doors, and public gatherings were limited.)
