I like minecraft, often. It's got to be tweaked to make me more interested in minecraft. I'm going to document them now:
First, you'll need mcpatcher, so we can use HD texture packs and install mods. Get it here: https://github.com/pclewis/mcpatcher/downloads
I use Linux, so I require the file.jar. It can be run via
This should bring up an extremely useful GUI. We'll get to this in a minute.
Then, we'll need the correct modifications:
Auto switcher will automatically switch to the most suitable tool for the job; the right kind of pick for mining or cutting, etc. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/753030-131125-thebombzens-mods-now-with-autoswitch-2/
OptiFine: Minecraft has many performance issues. OptiFine helps to smooth them out, and provides higher-quality graphics for those who have computers that are decent. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/249637-131-optifine-hd-b1-fps-boost-hd-textures-aa-af-and-much-more/
- ModLoader: I don't remember the reason I have this installed, but presumably it's for good reason. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/75440-v131-risugamis-mods-preliminary-updates/
So now you have all the necessary mods downloaded, run the mcpatcher. You can add multiple mods to mcpatcher (Mods > Add to the menu). You can point it to your minecraft.jar. You can find it in /.minecraft/bin/
Check the following mods and ensure that they are in the correct order. If they don't, you can use the arrows on the bottom of the GUI to arrange them:
1. AutoSwitchMod
2. ModLoader
3. OptiFine
4. Custom Colors
5. Random Mobs
6. Connected Textures
7. Better Skies
Then , click to patch. Mcpatcher will likely complain, but you are able to choose to click yes.
Lastly, we need a quality texture pack. I like this one: http://bdcraft.net/download-purebdcraft-texturepack-for-minecraft, 128 bit. Minecraft isn't capable of handling larger files. Netigre.Net Download it and save the .zip to ~/.minecraft/texturepacks. It should now be able to select it in the in-game menu.
