The world is becoming a smaller place. With new technologies such as the internet, the world is now at our fingertips. The opportunity to connect with people from all over the world is now something that is accessible to anyone, anywhere in the world. That's what makes this new world so interesting- you never know who you're going to meet!

What is the opportunity like for international students in international school in malaysia ? I went there on a school trip recently (Thank you, Malaysia Tourism!) and was absolutely delighted with the international vibe I felt while walking the streets of Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia is incredibly diverse, with people speaking more than 50 languages, so I imagine the opportunity for learning is enormous. There are over 170 nationalities living in Malaysia, with around 30% of the population being foreign. Where do I study?

This is a question a lot of prospective students ask themselves when deciding where to study. Malaysia is a paradise for vacationers and newly arrived immigrants, due to its beautiful weather and its affordability as an investment destination. That being said, it can be quite confusing for the outsider looking in as there is a lot of variety when it comes to the courses available and their structure. Before making any decisions, it's important to research the courses thoroughly and find out what's out there. Some of the popular choices for foreign students are:

Malaysian English Language

If you're looking for a new challenge, Malaysia's English language has a lot to offer. While not all the courses are open to international students (only those who have been conferred the right to study in Malaysia by the Immigration Department can study here), those that are open to the public are a great choice for English-speaking students who want to gain experience and move to the next level. One of the best English-taught universities in the country is Nanyang Technological University (NTU). They accept applications from all over the world and have a reputation for preparing students for their International Relations (IR) and Business studies degrees and placements. The university has a special relationship with the government, which allows them to offer some amazing scholarships for international students. A few of their courses are accredited by the International Baccalaureate (IB), the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges (MSA), and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), amongst others. Another huge plus point is that many of their courses are taught in English, so they're accessible to everyone.

Environmental Science

If you're looking for a new direction in your studies, environmental science is a great choice. You'll be studying the impact of human beings on the planet and trying to find solutions to make the world a better place. You'll be looking at all the aspects of human interference with the environment, including climate change. One of the most prominent Malaysian universities when it comes to Environmental Science is the University of Sydney. The University has a very good reputation and offers degrees, diplomas, and certificates in a range of environmental subjects – all of which can be accredited by the Australian Science Teachers' Association (ASTA). That means you'll have access to very good teaching and an ample range of practical experiences to enhance your studies. The beauty of this option is that much of the content can be applied in the real world. So, while on the one hand it may seem like a dry subject, on the other it can be very exciting and applicable. For example, you may be assessing the impact of human beings on the environment and how to make positive changes.

Tourism

This is a broad area, comprised of a lot of different courses. If you're looking for something very general, you could do anything from interpreting cultural aspects of Malaysian life to working in a hotel. One of the best places to study in Malaysia is certainly the University of Nottingham. They have a unique relationship with the Malaysian government, which means that tuition is low and loans are available to help with the cost of living. The University also awards some of the most prestigious degrees in the country, so you'll be studying in a prestigious environment. That being said, if you want to look for a specific career path, you may end up having to do a lot of research to find the right course. You may also end up having to move to another country for your studies, as Malaysia does not offer all its courses to non-Malays.

Social Sciences

If you're looking for a career in academia, you may be wondering what option is best for you. One of the best places to study in Malaysia is, again, the University of Sydney. They have a very good reputation and accept applications from all around the world. Additionally, the courses work very well with a lot of the Australian and New Zealand universities, so you're able to connect with other students from your home. The other option is to do a master's in Public Policy. This way you can combine your studies in the social sciences with a practicum, in which you'll get the opportunity to work in a public policy agency or in a governmental role. This is a very interesting option if you want to go into either foreign or domestic policy. The best part is that this is a very affordable way to study, with a lot of potential to study in an excellent environment and with very good connections abroad. However, you'll need to contact the respective embassies to see if they offer scholarships for overseas students.

Medicine

If you're interested in medicine, you may be wondering what option is the best for you. The University of Nottingham offers a full range of courses in the biomedical sciences, with a lot of its staff and students having an extensive network of contacts in both Malaysia and Indonesia. The university also works with a lot of charities and NGOs, so you'll be able to combine your studies with service-learning projects, which is a great way to learn while contributing to your community. Additionally, you may be able to get a part-time job, which will also help you to pay for your studies.

Arts

This option is a bit of a mish-mash. If you're looking for something creative, you may want to consider doing a bachelor of arts. You'll be studying a range of subjects, including art history, theory, and criticism. One of the best options is to do a double degree in conjunction with a Malaysian university. For example, you could do a double degree in Art History and Theory. That way you'll be studying two subjects and being able to network with other students who are interested in both subjects. International Relations

If you're looking for a course that's going to be both relevant and interesting, this is the option for you. Law

The law is another broad area. You may be able to get a job as a lawyer straight away after completing your studies. The University of Sydney again, has a lot to offer when it comes to law. It has a very good relationship with the Malaysian government and many of its courses are accredited by the Law Society of England and Wales. Additionally, the LLM (Master of Laws) is very versatile, enabling you to combine your studies with a professional placement year, in which you'll work either in a law firm or in a governmental role. The course is a great choice if you're interested in either foreign or domestic law, as you'll be studying both in detail. The best part is that the Law degree at the University of Sydney is very affordable and there is a high employment rate for lawyers and legal professionals. Many of the courses can be completed online, enabling you to study anywhere and whenever you want. So, if you're looking for a new challenge, studying law may be a good option for you.
