Macao Casino's Popular Market Helpes Overall Revenue Growth In Q3

Macau's casinos posted a 1.2% year-over-year increase in revenue to $6.9 billion in the third quarter, despite being led by the mass market segment and slightly reduced baccarat acceptance.
Total sales of public market table games and slots rose 3.9% year-over-year to about $3.29 billion in the three months to the end of September, the first overall increase since the second quarter of 2014, as reported by the Macau Business Daily newspaper, citing official figures from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.
However, the VIP Baccarat game's total third-quarter sales were not entirely positive, as it kept the Macau casino's main revenue source position at 52% but edged down to $3.57 billion.
Figures from the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau also indicate that the mass market baccarat game generated $2.44 billion in revenue during the third quarter of this year, down about 3.6% from $2.34 billion recorded in the same three months of 2015.
Macau Business Daily reported that Baccarat accounted for 87.2% of third-quarter revenue of $6.88 billion derived from Lucky Game, while Slot reported overall revenue for the three-month period fell 3.4% year-over-year to $350.37 million, despite an 11% annual increase in machine numbers to 15,769 units.
Greyhound Race Betting's third-quarter earnings maintained a steady decline that began in 2011, with the most recent $1.62 million representing a 41% quarter-over-quarter decline, and the segment now represents just 0.02% of its total revenue. In July, track operator Macao (Yat UN) Canidrome Company ordered the Macao Canidrome Club to be relocated or closed within two years, after annual revenue fell 82% in 2015 to about $600,648.
Finally, a report from the Bureau of Game Inspection and Coordination explained that overall third-quarter revenue from activities such as sports betting, lottery, horse racing and greyhound racing was $26.9 million, representing 0.4% of total revenue over the three months.
