Niagara Falls Casino suspends Grand Buffet operations

Soon, Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls, Ontario will say goodbye to one of the most iconic restaurants, the Grand Buffet. A few weeks ago, the management of the game hotspot reported that the buffet would be closed for good after 20 years of running a luxury restaurant facility. This place will cease operations due to increased operating costs.
With over 195 items, the Grand Buffet offers an impressive dining experience filled with fresh produce, gourmet recipes, and a welcoming atmosphere in the market. The current admission fee is C$55 excluding taxes, annual fees, or alcoholic beverages. But before the unprecedented situation, the restaurant charged 25 Canadian dollars for entry, a fairly steep price increase.
Previously, casino management informed customers that the Grand Buffet would close at 9 p.m. on Oct. 15, which was the case. In a September 2023 press release, Game Realty said the venue would be shut down due to rising food prices and eventually failing to contain costs that made the business unsustainable.
Richard Taylor, president of Niagara Casino, explained that since casinos reopened after an unprecedented situation, much effort has been made to reactivate the buffet last year, but in vain. So the operator had to make difficult choices at the buffet and shut down, Taylor explained.
But now the casino is taking customers to an alternative sports bar with 260 seats. Starting Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, resort guests will be able to enjoy the new Extra-Time Sports Lounge, featuring HDTV screens and an 80-foot bar connecting restaurants and gaming floors in a 1,500-square-foot space.
In addition, the Overtime Sports Lounge also comes with a menu specific to pub fare. On October 19, 2023, at 11:30 a.m., the lounge will be open seven days a week from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Booking for a new location is not mandatory, but reservations are recommended if you plan to visit during a major sporting event.
Fallsview Casino Resort recently celebrated the opening of its new Outtime Sports Lounge. Located in Ponte Vecchio's Galleria, the center will be an information space for players who want to relax, learn from play, use advice and resources to support positive players and maintain the fun of the game.
