Queen Baton Rouge and DraftKings Sportsbook officially opened at 9pm tonight, welcoming more than 1,000 guests lining up outdoors to welcome the stunning 100,000 square foot casino to Baton Rouge. The opening ceremony was followed by ribbon cutting and welcoming speeches by Terry Downey, CEO and President of Queen Gaming & Entertainment, Sharon Western Broom, Mayor and President of Baton Rouge, Matthew Shehardy, General Manager of Queen Baton Rouge, former LSU Tiger and NFL quarterback Matt Flynn, and Ronnie S. Jones, President of Louisiana Gaming Control Board.
The ribbon was officially cut by Lydia Chenebert, a 30-year employee of Queen Baton Rouge, and before tonight was the Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge, the historic Riverboat Casino. Queen Baton Rouge introduced a brand-new, Baton Rouge's first land casino for $85 million.
A spectacular drone light show took place shortly after the ribbon cutting, synchronized with the playlists broadcast on Talk 107.3 and 98.1 FM. The drones lit up the sky with a countdown revealing the logo of Queen Baton Rouge and showed all the amazing destinations found within the property. DraftKings Sportsbook, 1717, a dynamic bar and restaurant with a stage for live entertainment, Big Chicken, 3 Works Noodle bars and Capitol Coffee Baton Rouge, and a dedicated smoking patio, LIT Casino & Bar.
Shortly after the Queen opened, Flynn led a ribbon cutting ceremony and placed the first bet inside the DraftKings Sportsbook.
