Kiwoom Heroes renewed their contract with Ronnie Dawson (28), who showed a fierce batting performance by stepping on the KBO League as a substitute.
"I signed a 2024 season contract with Dawson for 550,000 U.S. dollars in annual salary and 50,000 dollars in incentives," Kiwoom said on Wednesday. It filled the lineup of foreign players for the first time in the offseason this winter.
Dawson is the player who filled in for Edison Russell's injury in July. He did not have high expectations as his background was not so fancy, but he showed good batting performance by posting a batting average of 0.336 (77 hits in 229 at-bats) in 57 games he played. He also showed good production capacity of stolen bases (nine) compared to the games he played.
"Dawson is a five-tool player and contributed to the team's victory by playing well in both ball, ball and water. He has a cheerful personality and has a good relationship with his teammates. He has always instilled positive energy in the team with his sincere attitude in training," the team said.
Dawson said shortly after signing the contract, "I'm more than happy to play in the KBO League again. I'm especially happy to meet the Kiwoom Heroes fans who gave me a lot of love. I'll do my best to help the team win more next season."
