'First GG in his life,' said, "The most meaningful award... You will receive more."

Noh Si-hwan became the third baseman winner at the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO Golden Glove Awards held at COEX Auditorium in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 11th.

Noh Si-hwan received 245 (84.2%) of the 291 valid votes, far beating second-ranked Moon Bo-kyung (LG Twins), who received 22 votes, and was honored.

Noh Si-hwan, who acquired his first golden glove in five seasons after his professional debut, became the winner for the first time in two years as a Hanwha player since Jung Eun-won (second baseman) in 2021 and 17 years as a third baseman since Lee Bum-ho in 2006.   

Noh Si-hwan stood out as the best hitter in the KBO League this year. He played 131 games and recorded a batting average of 0.298, 31 homers, 101 RBIs, 85 runs scored, and an OPS (on-base plus slugging) of 0.929. He ranked first in homers and RBIs, and was listed in the top 10 in most batting indicators, including second in slugging percentage and seventh in score.

His batting average failed to reach .300 by a two-ri margin, but he has evolved by achieving 30 home runs and 100 RBIs, which can be seen as a symbol of his powerhouse. He was also selected as a member of the national team and played the fourth hitter at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and the Asian Professional Baseball Championship (APBC).

Noh Si-hwan, who attended various awards ceremonies in the offseason and collected trophies, finished the finale with the Golden Glove Award.   메이저

"I vaguely imagined when I was young getting an award. But I got an award in real life. To be honest, I still can't believe it. I'm so happy today," Noh said after the ceremony.

Although he has won awards at several off-season awards, Golden Glove has a special meaning for Noh Si-hwan.

"[Golden Glove] is the most meaningful award," Noh said. "Thank you to everyone who helped us receive such a great award. It's our first award, and starting with this, we'll do our best to receive as many Golden Gloves as possible as a third baseman."

Regarding winning the award as the third baseman of Hanwha in 17 years, he said, "I think I should work harder to maintain this honorable position. Hanwha fans have been waiting for a long time, so I want to say thank you."

He also expressed his gratitude to Choi Jung (SSG Landers), who gave him a stimulus by competing for home run king until the end of the regular season.

Noh Si-hwan said, "Choi Jung has mentioned me a lot and has been a competitor, so I was able to come this far while trying to follow him. I want to say thank you again."

Hanwha failed to produce a Golden Glove winner on the day other than Noh Si-hwan. Noh expressed his desire to receive Golden Glove along with more Hanwha players in the future.

"There are so many outstanding young players in Hanwha. We will produce more Golden Glove winners in Hanwha in the future because we have good juniors, such as (Moon) Dong-ju and (Moon) Hyun-bin," he said.
