pvc pipe fittings

from web site

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) pipe fittings are components used to connect PVC pipes in plumbing and piping systems. PVC is a versatile and durable material commonly used in construction, irrigation, water supply, drainage, and various industrial applications. PVC pipe fittings come in a variety of shapes and sizes to accommodate different plumbing needs. Here are some common types of pvc pipe fittings :

  1. Couplings: Couplings are used to connect two pieces of PVC pipe of the same size. They come in various styles, such as slip, threaded, and compression couplings.

  2. Elbows: PVC elbows allow for changes in the direction of the pipe. Common angles include 45 degrees and 90 degrees. Elbows are available in different configurations, such as long sweep and short sweep, depending on the application.

  3. Tees: Tees allow the creation of a branch in a PVC pipe system. They come in different styles, including reducing tees for connecting pipes of different diameters.

  4. Reducers: Reducers are used to connect pipes of different diameters. They come in various configurations, such as concentric reducers (maintaining a straight centerline) and eccentric reducers (off-center).

  5. Caps: PVC caps are used to close the end of a pipe. They are commonly used in applications where the pipe might need to be accessed in the future.

  6. Adapters: Adapters enable the connection of PVC pipes to other types of pipes, such as copper or galvanized steel. They may also include threaded or slip connections.

  7. Unions: Unions consist of three parts – a male end, a female end, and a nut. They allow for the easy disconnection of pipes for maintenance or repairs.

  8. Crosses: PVC crosses provide a four-way intersection in a piping system, allowing for the creation of complex layouts.

  9. End Caps: Similar to regular caps, end caps are designed to close off the end of a pipe. They may have different features, such as solvent weld or threaded connections.

  10. Wyes: Wyes are similar to tees but allow for a smoother flow by having a gradual curve rather than a sharp angle. They are often used in drainage systems.

  11. Bushings: PVC bushings are used to reduce the size of a female-threaded connection on a fitting or pipe.

  12. Nipples: PVC nipples are short sections of pipe with male threads on both ends. They are used to extend or connect two female-threaded fittings.

When working with PVC pipe and fittings, it's essential to use the appropriate adhesive or solvent cement for a secure and leak-free connection. Additionally, fittings should conform to relevant standards and codes to ensure compatibility and performance in specific applications. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines and local building codes when installing PVC pipe fittings.
