Ambassador of the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education

Chung Geun-woo, a former national baseball player, has been appointed as an honorary ambassador for the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education.

Jeong Geun-woo was appointed as an honorary ambassador by the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education (superintendent Do Sung-hoon) in the conference room of the Information Center of the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education on Thursday. Jeong Geun-woo has three children attending a school in Incheon. His second daughter Soobin (12, Incheon Shinjeong Elementary School) recently won a gold medal at the National Winter Sports Festival, drawing keen attention from the public.

"As a parent, I always thank and respect teachers," Chung said at the ceremony. "I will become an ambassador who will contribute to education in Incheon." As an ambassador, Chung plans to promote various public interest campaigns and education at the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education. Along with Chung, YouTube creator Utsu was appointed at the ceremony.

Superintendent Do Sung-hoon said, "We appreciate your willing acceptance of the role of ambassador, and we hope that the experiences of ambassadors who have challenged and succeeded in various areas will serve as the foundation for Incheon education, which is moving 'rightly, decisively, to the world.'"

Jung Geun-woo is a legendary Korean professional baseball player who joined the professional league as the SK Wyverns in 2005 as a gold medalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games and played as the best second baseman ever with the nickname "Devil Second baseman" until his retirement in 2020.

After his retirement, he is receiving a lot of attention for his full-fledged broadcasting activities, and he is actively engaged in sports broadcasting, entertainment programs, and YouTube channels, including JTBC's "The Greatest Baseball," which recently ended.
