'Gijang-KBO Baseball Center'

Gijang-gun, Busan, announced on the 23rd that Gijang Baseball Theme Park, designated as the KBO Baseball Center, is becoming a cradle of Korean baseball development in cooperation with the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO).

Four regular baseball fields, one Little Baseball Stadium, and one Softball Stadium in Ilgwang Amusement Park (area of Dongbaek-ri, Ilgwang-eup) have been established, and are always used as various baseball games and training grounds for professionals, students, and social workers.

With excellent baseball infrastructure, world and national baseball competitions such as the U-18 World Youth Baseball Tournament and the U-15 National Youth Baseball Tournament are held, making it a sacred place for baseball players nationwide.

In December 2022, it was officially selected as the KBO Baseball Center in recognition of the nation's highest level of baseball infrastructure, and signed the "Gijang-KBO Baseball Center Implementation Agreement" in February 2023, attracting KBO's official competitions, events, and training to Gijang-gun.

This year, KBO hosted the "Next Level Training Camp," a training ground for young baseball players across the country, from January.

In the second half of the year, various KBO Baseball Center programs will be promoted at Gijang Baseball Theme Park, with "T-Ball Camp" for the general public and "KBO Education League" for professional and independent baseball teams scheduled.

In the future, ▷a baseball experience center with an indoor baseball practice range (scheduled in 2025) ▷a baseball museum where the Korean Baseball Hall of Fame will be built (scheduled in 2026) ▷a baseball square (scheduled in 2026) to be used as a venue for various events and family picnics ▷a youth hostel (scheduled in 2026), the largest baseball sports cluster in Korea will be completed, and Gijang-gun is expected to be spotlighted as a global baseball city.

Gijang-gun plans to develop Gijang Baseball Theme Park as a landmark tourism resource linked to various local tours and promote the influx of players and tourists by attracting various large-scale competitions and events to drive the local economy.
