According to Doosan officials, 23,750 seats at Jamsil Stadium were all sold out as of 4:07 p.m., about an hour before the game began. This is the second consecutive game that was fully booked following the opening game at home on the previous day.

"When I come here (in Jamsil), I always have a packed audience," KIA manager Lee Bum-ho said with a big smile. "When I come to Seoul, I always feel like I am at home. I am encouraged by the many fans who came to see me. I love it."

The previous day's game was Kia's 4-2 victory. While starting pitcher Lee Eui-ri, who took the mound for the first time in this season, gave up two hits, five walks, six strikeouts and two runs (non-earned), Jang Hyun-sik (⅔ innings scoreless), Lim Ki-young (⅔ innings scoreless), Kwak Do-kyu (⅔ innings scoreless), Choi Ji-min (one scoreless inning), Jeon Sang-hyun (one scoreless inning), and Jeong Hae-young (one scoreless inning) remained solid.

In the batting lineup, Lee Woo-sung made three hits and three runs from four times at bat, and Choi Won-jun made two hits, one RBI, one run and one walk from three times at bat. The fielders made four errors, but overcame them by banking on their hindsight. He scored four runs due to Park Chan-ho's timely hit in the third inning, Kim Sun-bin's RBI double in the fourth inning, Choi Won-joon's walk in the sixth inning, and Lee Chang-jin's timely hit to the right.

KIA, which has won its first four consecutive games in nine years, is ranked first with four wins and no losses, and Doosan, which has lost two consecutive games, is tied for fifth with three wins and three losses.

KIA, an away team, took out its ace Crow card to win its fifth consecutive game in the season. Crow, who has taken the helm of KIA's ace for a total of 1 million dollars, made his debut at the opening game against the Kiwoom Heroes in Gwangju on the 23rd, and although he was slightly shaken by six hits (one homer) and one walk, five strikeouts, and five runs (four earned) in five ⅔ innings, he became the winning pitcher amid support from batters.

Doosan also countered with foreign pitcher Brandon Waddell. At a match against the NC Dinos in Changwon on Sunday, Brandon also secured the win by allowing two hits, two outs and four strikeouts in five innings. He was replaced after suffering a minor back injury, but fortunately, he recovered quickly. In last year's match against KIA, he pitched once and allowed six runs (four earned) in four ⅔ innings without losing a game.
