Goyang Sono Sky Gunners recruited their second foreign player, completing the formation of foreign players in the 2024-2025 season.

"We have signed a contract with center Janelle Stokes (30), who played in both the NBA and the CBA," Sono said on Sunday. Following the recruitment of former NBA center Alan Williams (31), Stokes has been added to strengthen the base of the goal.

Stokes played for the U.S. team at the 2013 U-19 World Championship, scoring 7.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, helping his team win the gold medal. He also scored 15.1 points and 10.6 rebounds per game as a junior at the University of Tennessee, leading his team to the round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament. In recognition of this, he was named the 35th pick in the second round of the 2014 NBA Rookie Draft, and since his debut with the Memphis Grizzlies, he has played in a total of 28 games, ranging from the Miami Heat to the Denver Nuggets.  토토사이트 모음

In 2016, he dominated the paint zone based on his excellent physicality of 201cm and 115kg, winning the 2016 NBA G League Best 5, All-Star selection, regular league and final MVP. Since then, Stokes has entered the Chinese CBA and played an average of 33 minutes in 28 games for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in the 2017-2018 season, recording 25 points, 14 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game, especially field goals, showing a 57% success rate.

In the 2019-2020 season, he played for the CBA Xinjiang Flying Tigers, averaging 22.9 points, 11.4 rebounds, and a 61.7% success rate in field goals over 19 games.

Stokes left the league for his film business despite a request to renew his contract after the end of the 2019-2020 season, and when he hinted at a recent return, he received a love call from many teams in the CBA. In the end, he decided to make his final destination a Goyang Sono, led by Kim Seung-ki, who had shown interest before.

Coach Sono Kim Seung-ki said, "As a result of bringing him to Las Vegas, where the Summer League will be held, there was no gap in technique and ball handling," adding, "If we recover our previous skills, we expect him to be a player who will be of great help not only in post-play but also in teamwork with guards."

Stokes said, "There was an active recommendation from Didrick Lawson, who grew up playing basketball in Handongne, and I was moved to give him faith and opportunity first," adding, "I will play basketball with fans who will play well on the court to advance to the playoffs."
