Southwest Airlines Boarding Process

from web site

The Southwest Airlines Boarding Process is unique and unlike most traditional airlines. Instead of assigned seating, Southwest uses an open-seating policy. Passengers are assigned a boarding group (A, B, or C) and a position number within that group. Your boarding position is determined by check-in time, fare type, and any status or upgrades. The earlier you check in, the better your spot in line.

Groups board in the following order: A, B, and C. You can select any open seat once you're on board. It is easier for families with children under six to sit together when they board after Group A. Individuals with particular seating needs may preboard. Company Positions A1–A15 are usually assigned to selected passengers. You can check in sooner with the premium alternative known as EarlyBird Check-In. Priority boarding perks are also extended to A-List and A-List Preferred members.

Despite its adaptability, the technique may lead to issues like preboard misuse and seat saving. Nonetheless, the procedure proceeds well with adequate planning and comprehension. A better seat selection is guaranteed if you arrive early and know your group.
