Importance of Glass Wool Insulation

glass wool

Glass wool insulation is getting very common in all over the world as its thermal and acoustic properties, light weight, high tensile strength and exceptional resilience so there are lots of suppliers and manufacturers who provide insulation in commercial and residential buildings. Glass wool insulation is made from fibreglass which is arranged to produce a kind of texture which is of wool. It can be seen in homes, commercial and industrial buildings as well as in vehicles.

Glass wool material is made up from sand and recycled glasses which is blended and melted into a fibrous mat and bound together by resin because of material’s texture is kind of wool that’s why is named as glass wool. The fibres in glass wool held together with a binding agent, that helps glass wool to hold together and give strength to the fibres in glass wool that work to trap air between them and stops passing the air so the heat passed through the fibres can't penetrate far as the material itself does not conduct heat very well and the air pockets are isolated from each other.

It manufactured from recycled glass which is very beneficial. It is the most resistant materials to fire which requires extremely high temperature to burn. If a person inhale glass wool fibres during installation, most of the fibres dissolve inside body with no health effects as its non-carcinogenic so it does not cause cancer in humans.
It should be fixed with wall to reduce the thermal bridge effect. Insulation can be attached with the wall by using adhesion but as adhesive cannot guarantee perfect adhesion to the irregular surfaces so that can degrade the atmospheric surface so it is recommended to use mechanical fastening.

It is preferred as its less expensive to buy and easy to install which has good heat and cooling effects so it is most common insulation used for homes and roofs. From the environmental point of view, Glass wool Insulation is necessary in crowded place where there is high population having high pollution and big buildings. These days It produced from recycled newspapers that are treated with chemicals which reduces its ignition potential.

This material provides a number of advantages over fibreglass as it is inexpensive and reduces airflow as well as doesn’t cause any serious health risk.  It is possible that the material can produce harmful gasses because of ink of the newspapers, but insulation is done in sealed areas, so it’s not the health concern.
