Pink Valance Sheet.
Purchasing a valance can be costly. After all, they are designed to go across the top of the curtains. If the room is large, then having 2-3 different valances to match different curtains is a hassle. It is also a huge mess getting all the valances to hang evenly.
By making your own from pink valance sheet, you can make it completely custom to your room, as long as you follow the measurements. This means, for example, that you do not have to buy any curtains to match it, if it is a perfect fit of the color of the valance, then that would be enough. If you have a bedroom or living room that is predominantly pink, then pink valance sheet would be perfect. If you have the room and matching curtains, then go for it! Finding pink valance sheet.
To make your own, you need to have:
Pink valance sheet.
A sewing machine.
Scissors
A measuring tape
To make this, you will also need:
A sewing machine.
12′′ – 16′′ wood dowels
A measuring tape
Two strips of pink fabric 2.5′′ wide and 22′′ long
One piece of ribbon 11′′ long
One piece of tape (for the corners)
Steps for making a valance from pink valance sheet:
Step 1: Fold the two pink strips lengthwise in half.
Step 2: Stitch the strip to itself right in the middle.
Step 3: Take the strip with the seam running along the long side and flip it over. Stitch along the top half.
Step 4: Take the folded strip that you created earlier and stitch it to the strip you stitched earlier. Fold it towards you and stitch along one side.
Step 5: Take the open strip you created earlier and fold it in half length wise and stitch again.
Step 6: Take the folded strip that you created earlier and stitch it to the strip you stitched earlier. Fold it towards you and stitch along one side.
Step 7: Take the two open strips that you created earlier and stitch one on either side of one open strip. You now have one long strip of fabric.
Step 8: Turn the fabric over and fold it into a square. Use scissors to cut one short side to make a perfect square.
Step 9: Repeat step 8 with the other fabric.
Step 10: Take the piece of dowel that is 12′′ long and lay it in the center of the square that you just created.
Step 11: Cut two strips 22′′ long. Take one of the fabric strips and fold it over the dowel. Stitch along the short edge. Do the same with the other fabric strip. You should have two identical strips.
Step 12: Put the tape in between the fabric pieces. This will help to make sure the fabric stays in place on the dowel.
Step 13: Take your long strip of fabric and fold it into two equal halves. Take one fold and fold it over the other.
