Woori Card regained the lead position lost to Korean Air in a day.

Woori Card won a set score of 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-12) in a home game against Hyundai Capital in the Dodram 2023-24 V-League at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul on the 12th, the last day of the Lunar New Year holiday.

Woori Card recorded 55 points (19 wins and nine losses), pulling down Korean Air (53 points, 17 wins and 11 losses), and recapturing the lead in a day. Korean Air defeated Korea Electric Power Corp. the previous day (11 days) and pushed ahead with no game, taking the lead for the first time in 74 days.

Woori Card presented a cool victory in front of a packed crowd (3599 people, 3,437 people at KEPCO on January 14), which was recorded for the first time this season.

Woori Card is currently in a critical condition. Mattei Kok, a foreign player, injured his left ankle during practice. He said it would take about 10 weeks for him to recover from a ruptured ligament. In fact, he is out of the season. Woori Card is looking for an alternative foreign player.

The proportion of foreign players in the V-League is a big part. Matei was the only foreign player in the seven teams to be a novice in the V-League this season, but he led Woori Card to the top spot by ranking third in score through the fourth round. Woori Card coach Shin Young-chul had an unexpected interim report card, which was largely attributable to Matei.

Woori Card won the set score 3-2 against OK Financial Group on the 9th, the first game since Mattei's injury. Song Myung-geun and Kim Ji-han (22 points), Otaket Issei (17 points), Lee Sang-hyun (10 points) and Park Jin-woo (9 points) showed even performance.

The same was true on Sunday. Han Sung-jung scored 13 points, the most in her team. Issei, who replaced Mattei as Apogit Spiker, scored 12 points, and Song Myung-geun, who displayed clutch ability, added 11 points. The rest of the players made up for Mattei's absence and Kim Ji-han's seven-point slump.

Song Myung-geun, who was replaced by Song, made it 24-23 with consecutive quick openers when he allowed a 22-22 tie after leading 21-18 in the first set. Kim Ji-han then succeeded in the open attack to bring the first set.

In the second set, Song Myung-geun, who replaced Kim Ji-han, once again showed off his clutch ability. Following the quick open at 19-19, he blocked Hyundai Capital Ahmed's attacks in succession, bringing the team to a 22-19 victory. In the third set, Han Sung-jung scored six points, including one serve ace, to lead the team's attack and win by a big margin of 25-13 close to the double score.

At Woori Card, Mattei will be away for the time being. It is not easy to buy alternative foreign players. For the time being, we have to play as the current team.
