Public opinion toward the dismissal of Korean national soccer team coach Jürgen Klinsmann

Public opinion on the dismissal of Korean national soccer team coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who failed to win the 2023 Qatar Asian Cup due to his performance that did not meet expectations, is hardly cooling down. We need to make maintenance and move to a new side," Vice Chairman Lee Seok-jae told reporters on the phone. "Most of the participants suggested that Klinsmann be replaced." He added, "We only talked about the performance of the competition, but there were no questions about attitude or other factors."

This meeting is a weekly meeting with Chung Mong-kyu, chairman of the Korea Football Association, usually in attendance. The meeting was held with Chung's absence, and since it is not a voting body, it has no authority to decide. Klinsmann's future will be finally decided by the Korea Football Association's executive branch, including Chung, after the evaluation by the Korea Power Enhancement Committee.

Since the Asian Cup, public opinion has been mounting on the replacement of Klinsmann. The national team, led by Klinsmann, lost 0-2 to Jordan in the semifinals of the Asian Cup, failing to recapture the throne for the first time in 64 years. Although it was considered the favorite to win the championship, the performance in the tournament did not meet expectations.
