Looking forward to presenting in New York State on January 15, 2010 for the Technology Leadership Institute. They have quite a line of up for their speaker series this year including myself, Dr. Jason Ohler, Michael Horn, Dr. Gary Stager, Steve Hargadon, and David Pogue.
This page has information on attending and signing up for these sessions. If you read this blog and attend, please introduce yourself.
I spent some time with Alan Levine this past week. (He writes the cog dog blog and is an amazing blogger about new technology.) He came by my classroom and showed storybox and my students got to meet him. I'm going to have to get Alan to map his travels because my students keep asking "Where's Mr. Alan now?" They were captivated with this travels. This post includes a little of the personal side of me and the things I like to show people who come down:the cat fish pond, the alligator farm, and of course, my students. It also includes a recording of me talking about some things with Alan as well.
Here's a set of articles I've written for the Atlantic about teaching. Thefinal post will be up soon in the 12 part series.
The Berkman Center at Harvard has done a lovely job of storifying each session and event (I'd love to see this at all events and workshopts) - here is the session from where I presented yesterday on the Flattened model and how Open Education Resources need to stop treating teachers and students as consumers and rather, as co-creaters. No network, no sustainability. Know network, know sustainability. Gave them four tips for building community.
Here is the presentation I gave to the Open education forum at the Berkman Center at Harvard - it was a very short overview of Flat Classroom and designed to make the point about creating symbiotic learning relationships. Students don't consume to learn - thinking you can make a video and "teach" is pretty preposterous. This talks about pulling people into your network and how to get them there. Again, it was very short and then a panel discussion afterwards.

Excited to be heading to Kendallville, Indiana this summer on June 13 to keynote the second day of the Knight-Time Technology Conference about how to influence change in the 21st century, how to flatten your classroom, how writing is being reinvented and how you can use it in your classroom and differentiating instruction with technology. It will be exciting. If you're interested, this it the link to find out more information.
Video including 51+ ways to use tablets to be a better teacher that I gave for Microsoft this week - over 1500 people registered for this one. Great audience.
