a practitioner raps about battlefield acupuncture

    • Battlefield Acupuncture is really just another name for conventional or medical acupuncture, but it has a catchier name that is more likely to appeal to military personnel, veterans, and more traditional-minded individuals. The majority of acupuncture points used during Battlefield Acupuncture are in and around the ear (called Auricular Acupuncture) and on the hands, legs, and feet. These points are among the most clinically studied acupuncture points and appear to have the most relevance in treating wartime induced stress and injuries. Furthermore, acupuncture has no negative side effects and is a significant savings in cost compared to pharmaceutical drug therapy. Whatever they call it, I am certainly a major supporter of this old and new approach to healing our wounded. Our soldiers deserve the very best healthcare options, and I am proud to see acupuncture in the ranks of the military’s medical treatment choices.
