My learning style is: intrapersonal (75), interpersonal (75) and linguistic (67). The Big Thinkers video interview with Howard Gardner opened my eyes to the idea of assessment to match the student- centered learning environment as well as the neccessity of presenting material in as many ways possible. By working with the theory of multiple intelligences, teachers can teach lessons of any subject in unique ways as to reach every student and every type of mind. Presenting material in more than one way will ensure that many students are engaged and interested. Similarly, the way that understanding is checked for should be student- centered and reflective of the unique ways in which material is taught.

This "Highlight" appealed to me because it touches on the view that social minorities are becoming the majority in schools but are still treated as lesser entities. Culturally and socially diverse classrooms are a gem when it comes to teaching respect, understanding, and civility, and it is sad that many school atmospheres don't nurture this concept of inclusion. This article reiterated the point that focusing on creating awareness of differences and appreciating similarities as well as these differences will ultimately impact students and make everyone feel at home.

This is a site displaying American art throughout critical points in history. Whether the artists created their work for fun or to prove a point, each piece says something about a time in our country's past. Using primary sources like this can enhance the student's understanding of history because they provide genuine perspective of the past.
